After almost 25 years at the helm of the company – first at ProSTEP Produktdatentechnologie GmbH and later at PROSTEP AG – it is time for me to say goodbye. Goodbye to the company, to my dear colleagues, to our highly-regarded partners and customers, and to the entire PLM community. I will be retiring in the middle of the year and, unlike many of my much appreciated colleagues, I have decided against pursuing any consulting work and plan to devote all my time to my personal interests. I think that 25 years at PROSTEP and over 40 years of CAD/PLM history are enough.

The DART Racing Team at TU Darmstadt recently unveiled the pi2023 electric bolide, with which the team will compete in four Formula Student competitions this summer in the categories Electric and Driverless. The PROSTEP logo has been emblazoned on the monocoque of the newly designed vehicle for the first time. We are now supporting the Formula Student team of the local TU as a Gold Sponsor.

If proof of the legitimacy of in-person events were needed, it was provided by the prostep ivip Symposium 2023, where PROSTEP had a large booth staffed with a large number of employees. We have rarely conducted as many outstanding conversations with partners and customers as we did this year. We also demonstrated our unwavering commitment to the Association's work in numerous presentations.

PROSTEP is following up on the announcement of its intention to focus on the development of new ERP connectors for the OpenPDM integration platform this year with concrete action. The PLM consulting and software company recently unveiled a connector that can be used to connect the cloud-based ERP solution Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP to widely used PLM or ALM solutions.

Maintaining vendor-neutrality often demands the simultaneous handling of multiple tasks. The events included Dassault Systèmes COExperience 2023 in Miami, PTC LiveWorx in Boston and Siemens Realize Live 2023 in Las Vegas.

Not only is white-collar crime becoming more complex, but so are the regulatory requirements and demands of lawmakers. On January 1, 2023, the new Supply Chain Due Diligence Act came into force. According to a KPMG study on white-collar crime in Germany, more than half of the companies are not yet familiar with the new rules. Many do not even know all the partners in their supply chain.
The supervisory board of PROSTEP AG has appointed Philipp Hasenäcker, managing director of PROSTEP subsidiary BHC, as a new member of the executive board. Among other things, Hasenäcker will assume responsibility for the consulting business and will support his fellow executive board member Karsten Theis expand the company's consulting and solutions offering in the direction of software-driven business.

Production planning and control for complex vessels such as frigates and cruise ships poses major challenges for shipyards. A new planning methodology based on a digital twin was developed as part of the ProProS project with the aim of providing shipyards with better support. The project, which was funded by the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Action (BMWK), was brought to a successful close at the end of May.
