PROSTEP expands OpenPDM by adding 3DEXPERIENCE DELMIA connector

The digitalization of manufacturing processes is a key factor for optimization, acceleration and cost savings in production. Dassault Systèmes makes it possible to virtually plan and analyze the entire factory production with DELMIA based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. This not only allows manufacturing processes to be optimized but also makes it possible to take better account of the various aspects of manufacturing when designing the products to be manufactured. This requires the provision of data from a variety of sources such as CAD, PDM, ERP, etc. and synchronization of this data with the production planning systems. PROSTEP is therefore developing, in close cooperation with Dassault, a new connector that can be used to make relevant data from other back-end systems available so that manufacturing processes can be planned efficiently in DELMIA.

Provision of the latest data from different data sources for the planning and simulation of manufacturing processes not only allows errors to be avoided, for example because the correct dimensions of workpieces and tools are always used. It also reduces the time required to model, plan and simulate manufacturing and assembly processes and makes it possible for users to respond more flexibly when changes are made to products or production equipment.

The new 3DEXPERIENCE DELMIA connector is being developed in customer projects currently being executed to ensure its practical relevance. In conjunction with the existing OpenPDM connectors for the PLM and ERP systems to be integrated, the solution enables the timely provision of product data when working with DELMIA. This will add another standard component to the OpenPDM product suite that will also be available to other customers in the future.
