PROSTEP presents first integration based on ThingWorx Orchestration in Boston
By Peter Pfalzgraf
PROSTEP once again had its own booth at this year's PTC LiveWorx in Boston. We presented the first demonstrator showing a new approach for integrating Teamcenter in the IoT platform ThingWorx in both the exhibition hall and at one of the breakout sessions. The demonstrator was developed using the brand new, but not yet released, integration technology ThingWorx Orchestration, which will go live at the end of the year.
With more than 6,000 people attending, PTC LiveWorx in Boston is one of the world's largest technology conferences on digital transformation. The PLM integration specialist PROSTEP has for years participated in the conference as an exhibitor and last year presented the OpenPDM ThingWorx CONNECT solutions which make it possible to link different PLM solutions with PTC's IoT platform. These solutions are now also available on the PTC Marketplace.
At this year's LiveWorx, PTC presented ThingWorx Orchestration, its own integration technology, which slated for launch at the end of the year together with ThingWorx Release 8.4. It is an integration framework that boasts a comprehensive library of preconfigured connectors.
The framework enables different IT systems and devices to be integrated using simple drag-and-drop operations, thus allowing cross-system and cross-domain business processes to be set up and supported quickly.
Although ThingWorx Orchestration is not yet officially available, we have already developed a demonstrator for integrating the PLM system Teamcenter from Siemens PLM Software using the new middleware. For the first time, we presented the demonstrator to a wider audience in the PTC LiveWorx exhibition hall. We also explained how it works in a breakout session on ThingWorx Orchestration together with PTC getting good feedback from the audience.
PROSTEP is one of the first PLM specialists to take a closer look at PTC's new integration technology, the development of which has not yet been completed. We spent the last few months working closely with PTC on implementing the demonstrator, and this collaboration proved a great success. Our objective in presenting the demonstrator is to underscore our expertise in the field of integration and to also position ourselves as a competent integration partner when it comes to IoT.
