PROSTEP exhibits for the first time at the Interoperability Summit 2026 in Bonn

By Martin Strietzel

The Interoperability Summit will take place on 7 May 2026 in Bonn. Under the motto "Efficient Through the Digital Transformation", the event positions itself as a forum for exchange on standards, data spaces, and digital collaboration — from product development to production and the supply chain. PROSTEP will exhibit its solutions for the Digital Product Passport at the event for the first time.

The Interoperability Summit is organized, among others, by GS1 Germany, ECLASS, VDMA, and the prostep ivip Association. A distinctive feature of this year’s event is the intensive discussion of interoperability along the entire value chain. Representatives from product development, production, and sales bring their perspectives and jointly explore how end to end data flows can be achieved across system and company boundaries.

This lifecycle oriented perspective aligns perfectly with PROSTEP Group’s long-standing history and expertise. For many years, the company has stood for seamless integration and harmonization of product data — from early development phases to downstream processes and ecosystems.

The content reflects our strategic focus areas:

  • Sustainability as an overarching topic for the future. PROSTEP contributes its extensive experience in the structured and cross system handling of consistent product data. Transparent and interoperable data structures are a key foundation for efficiently meeting sustainability requirements and reliably fulfilling regulatory expectations.
  • Support for the Digital Product Passport (DPP) through dedicated software solutions such as the Eclipse AAS Connector. This enables the efficient implementation of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS) and provides the technical basis for standardized, interoperable data exchange along the entire product lifecycle.
  • The Digital Thread as the connecting element between development, production, and the supply chain.

The Interoperability Summit highlights the importance of harmonized identification and data standards for a functioning digital value chain. What makes the event particularly exciting is the convergence of organizations and companies that traditionally operate in different domains and markets. For example, PROSTEP and the prostep ivip Association are strongly rooted in product development, while GS1 is a globally operating organization primarily active in the retail sector.

Participants will discuss in depth the potential of collaboration across these traditionally separate areas. Possible points of connection were already explored in detail in an interview featured in the last newsletter. The Summit now offers another opportunity to place joint activities in the broader context of interoperability and standardization.

PROSTEP will be present at the Interoperability Summit with its own booth and looks forward to engaging with you personally about sustainable, interoperable solutions for the digital future.
