With OpenDXM GlobalX 10, we are driving the modernization and harmonization of our solutions forward in the context of a product platform and improving their ability to be deployed in the cloud. The new service interfaces will standardize and improve communication between the different platform components while at the same time facilitating their provision as a SaaS offering.
A key component of OpenDXM GlobalX is the batch processing framework (BPF), which among other things is responsible for automating downstream process steps such as data conversion and OFTP transfer. The new version 5.0 of the BPF will in the future communicate with OpenDXM GlobalX 10 via REST API. REST interfaces facilitate lightweight, scalable and secure communication based on HTTP requests. This means that BPF will be able to handle even extremely large send jobs involving structures comprising several thousand objects, as commonly found in shipbuilding for example.
Another harmonization measure involves aligning the login processes in OpenDXM GlobalX 10 with the processes that customers are already familiar with from OpenPDM. The software architecture is also being modernized. A centralized configuration will be extracted from the application for this purpose and will facilitate implementation in a cloud infrastructure.
