PROSTEP also makes components from OpenPDM 10 available as a SaaS offering

Key technical innovations in OpenPDM 10, such as full support for the latest version of the Java framework Spring Boot 3 and the switch from Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) to the current release of Jakarta EE from the Eclipse Foundation, were already discussed in the previous PROSTEP Newsletter. Among other things, these innovations serve to speed up start-up times for microservices and make it easier to customize them, which offers enormous time savings for SaaS-based use in particular.

PROSTEP has for some time now been making numerous OpenPDM 10 components available to its customers via the SaaS portal. These include the connections from PTC Arena to the ALM solution Jira and to SAP S/4HANA, which have been adapted to the new release. Customers can use the connections with the new OpenPDM 10 components basically from the word go.

The new functions are available to both our SaaS customers and to companies that have installed OpenPDM on-premises as both versions are being developed on the same code base. The changes will have no impact on the time-tested specialist functions, which can continue to be used as before.

PROSTEP is adapting its release and support strategy for OpenPDM with the launch of the new Release 10. In the future, there will be a long-term support (LTS) release for every major release. OpenPDM 9.7 has been designated an LTS release with the launch of OpenPDM 10 and is therefore available to our customers under standard support conditions for approximately one year longer. We therefore recommend that all OpenPDM customers upgrade to OpenPDM 9.7 to ensure standard support until the end of 2026 and facilitate future migration to OpenPDM 10.x. Support for OpenPDM 9.6 officially ends at the end of March 2025.
