COExperience 2025, which was held this year in conjuction with the MBSE Cyber Systems Symposium (MCSS) 2025, brought over 800 visitors to Reno, Nevada. Core topics addressed during the four-day event included not only model-based systems engineering (MBSE) but also end-to-end digitalization (digital thread) and artificial intelligence (AI). As expected, the keynote presentations by the aerospace and defense company Sierra Nevada, aircraft manufacturer Boom Technology and Volvo Cars focused on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform (3DX) from Dassault Systèmes.
As a premium sponsor of the event, we had a large stand where we showcased our expertise in PLM migration and the integration of the 3DX platform in existing IT environments. We established interesting contacts with potential new customers and further developed our close contacts with existing customers such as Sierra Nevada Corporation, with whom we gave a joint presentation on the integration of MBSE and requirements management in the 3DX platform. Together with material data management specialist Total Materia, we also demonstrated how easy it is to integrate material data management in 3DX and other PLM solutions with the help of our PLM integration platform OpenPDM.
Upheaval in the automotive industry
Attracting 650 participants, this year's prostep ivip Symposium in Berlin was also very well attended. The symposium was the ideal place to gauge the mood of the automotive industry, which appears to be in the doldrums. The industry is in a state of upheaval, which is causing a certain amount of uncertainty among automotive suppliers and service providers with regard to where the journey is taking them and how quickly they will get there. It is, however, also clear that there is no way around digitalization. Quite the contrary: companies need to shift up a gear, especially if they want to exploit the promising potential benefits of artificial intelligence (AI).
AI was ever-present this year – also at our stand, which was large and well-staffed. The presentations gave the impression that AI will drastically change the product development process over the next few years in every area from requirements management to validation. We had numerous interesting discussions that made it clear that the journey will not be easy. However, they confirmed our belief that our consulting services and solutions – not only for AI but also for PLM-ALM integration and end-to-end digitalization – place us in a perfect position to continue to provide customers in the automotive industry in particular with the support they need for their digital transformation.
Prepared for growth at the AFCEA trade exhibition
With over 250 exhibitors and more than 4,000 participants, the AFCEA trade exhibition in Bonn is the most important meeting place for the German Armed Forces, public authorities, organizations with security-related tasks, and companies in the IT and communications industry. Software-defined defense, the digital twin, end-to-end digitalization and enterprise architecture management (EAM) were the key topics at this year's two-day event, which is also referred to as "CeBIT in olive fatigues". The exhibition has grown considerably in size as a result of the current geopolitical situation.
This year, PROSTEP was represented with its own stand at the AFCEA for what was the second time and attracted numerous interested visitors. We presented our EAM consulting services, which provide the basis for integrating heterogeneous IT system landscapes and ensuring end-to-end digitalization, both at our stand and in a presentation. We also demonstrated how easy it is to create digital twins for different use cases with our digital thread platform. Participating in the event was well worth our while. We had numerous interesting discussions that we intend to continue in the coming weeks. The highlight for one of our employees was a flight in an F35 flight simulator, during which he was able to experience end-to-end digitalization live.
Realize LIVE in Detroit with record attendance
Realize LIVE, organized by Siemens Digital Industries Software, attracted more than 5,000 visitors to the motor city of Detroit this year, significantly more than the organizer had expected, even though Siemens did not have any new products or acquisitions to announce. The four-day event offered more than 450 sessions on topics related to engineering, manufacturing, product and application lifecycle management, as well as a variety of hands-on workshops. Two race cars from the Siemens-sponsored Andretti team, which had won the IndyCar race in Detroit the weekend before the event, adorned the podium at Huntington Place as Joe Bohman, SVP Lifecycle Collaboration Software at Siemens, opened the event with his keynote speech.
The central theme of this year's event was the digital thread and how it can be implemented with Siemens products NX, Teamcenter, Polarion, Capital, and Mendix. PROSTEP, Inc. was represented as premium sponsor with a booth where we explained to participants how we can create a close PLM/ALM connection between Teamcenter and Polarion and how we can integrate Teamcenter and/or Polarion with other systems. Our booth, which featured a different Detroit sports team each day and gave customers and partners the chance to spin the wheel of fortune, was very well attended. So, it was great that the four-person team from our US subsidiary was once again reinforced by employees from PROSTEG AG and our subsidiary BHC.
