Every week we all read new articles, studies and market analyses about Industry 4.0, the digital transformation or the Internet of Things. What strikes me is that many of these articles say much the same thing and are also much alike in their objective: They only ever point out the positive aspects of the digital transformation – rarely the risks.

After more than 13 years at Audi, most recently as Head of Production IT, Dr. Oliver Riedel has now taken his leave of the automotive industry and found himself a new challenge. For several months he has been head of the Institute for Control Engineering of Machine Tools and Manufacturing Units (ISW) at the University of Stuttgart and is also director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering (IAO). In this interview he draws some (preliminary) conclusions.

PDF Generator 3D now also supports Adobe AEM Forms

PROSTEP has launched version 7.0 of its PDF Generators 3D. It is the last version to still provide support for Adobe LiveCycle ES 4 SP1 and the first that supports the successor product, AEM Forms. Key innovations include enhanced functions in the integrated 3D ModelScript framework for generating cross-sectional geometries and an option for generating tessellated texts.

OpenPDM now offers integration with the E-CAD solution from WSCAD

PROSTEP and the company WSCAD have, together, created an interface between WSCAD's electrical CAD solution and the OpenPDM integration platform. It enables bidirectional synchronization of electrical component data, attribute information, documents and product structures with leading PLM and ERP systems. The integration is now available.

Industry 4.0: Data integration is the greatest challenge
