PROSTEP to present the new version 9.0 of OpenDXM GlobalX

By Udo Hering

PROSTEP will be presenting the new version 9.0 of its OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange solution to a larger group of users for the first time at this year's PROSTEP TECHDAY. The event is being held 8 November 2018 at DARZ, a high-performance data center in Darmstadt, Germany. The new version of OpenDXM features a completely redesigned user interface that makes data exchange even easier, especially for occasional users.

OpenDXM GlobalX 9.0 provides all basic data exchange functions in a browser-based user interface using HTML5, which means that additional software is no longer required. More importantly, the new interface no longer requires the use of Java Applets or Java Web Start applications.

The web client interface not only has a new, more modern layout but is also a much more ergonomic design and thus takes account of the needs of a wide variety of users. OpenDXM GlobalX is used by thousands of users around the globe for secure data exchange. Many of them work with the data exchange solution every day, but there is also an increasing number of users in various departments within a company who only need to exchange data from time to time. The new web client is easier for occasional users to use without subjecting so-called "power users" to any limitations to the functionality that the data exchange solution provides.

PROSTEP worked closely with User Interface Design GmbH on redesigning the new web interface to ensure that customers' expectations in terms of user experience were met. The Ludwigsburg-based user interface design specialists recorded the users' requirements and closely examined how they use the software today and where they have problems with its operation. The new operating concept was then tested and optimized in cooperation with selected customers.

PROSTEP expects the simplified user interface to result in even wider use of the web-based data exchange solution in non-engineering departments and throughout the entire supply chain. At this year's PROSTEP TECHDAY, UID's managing director, Dr. Frank Koller, will explain just how important ergonomically designed user interfaces are for the user experience.
