PDF Generator 3D now also supports Adobe AEM Forms

By Timo Trautmann

PROSTEP has launched version 7.0 of its PDF Generators 3D. It is the last version to still provide support for Adobe LiveCycle ES 4 SP1 and the first that supports the successor product, AEM Forms. Key innovations include enhanced functions in the integrated 3D ModelScript framework for generating cross-sectional geometries and an option for generating tessellated texts.

PDF Generator 3D is PROSTEP's server solution for creating intelligent 3D PDF documents automatically. These documents can be used to digitalize a variety of different business processes from creating offers to making service documentation available. The new version 7.0 is the first version to use the technology from Adobe's AEM Forms solution suite to create PDF documents and manage the conversion and provision processes.

PDF Generator 7.0 now also supports the 64-bit Windows Server 2012 R2 and Java 8 as well as the new CAD system versions SolidEdge ST9, SolidWorks 2017 and NX 11.0. In addition, it offers a number of improvements for converting models from NX and Catia V5 as well as models and flat-to-screen notes from Creo.

The 3D ModelScript framework has been expanded to include the generation of cross-sectional geometries. When generating cross sections, users now have more options – such as color of the layer, color of the lines of intersection and transparency attributes – available to them.

Another key enhancement is an option for generating tessellated texts. This means that the fonts used to create the 3D annotations no longer have to be distributed with the PDF file, and makes users independent of the fonts installed on the client machine. Users have more influence over the results delivered when 3D PMI (product manufacturing information) is converted. In many cases, this function also makes the PMI easier to read.
