OpenDXM GlobalX 9.6: en route to PROSTEP's product platformBy Daniel Wiegand The OpenDXM GlobalX data exchange solution is to become an integral part of PROSTEP's product platform but can still be used as a stand-alone solution. The new version 9.6, which has recently been made available to our customers for downloading, offers a wide range of new features and improvements – and not only for system administrators but also for users. The developers of OpenDXM GlobalX have in recent months implemented many of the requests for improvement received from our customers. These include, for example, the option of designing the templates for e-mail notifications in such a way that e-mails can be sent in HTML format. This means that additional formatting options for attractive notifications are now available. We have also further improved the user interface with the aim of making work easier for administrators. ENGDAT partners can now be managed more easily, and user friendliness has also been enhanced when it comes to assigning rights or organizing user groups. Forms, lists, methods and other post-processing objects can be exported and imported via the web interface, which allows them to be transported between different instances. This is particularly helpful when synchronizing development, test and production environments. We have added a statistics function to the software to improve monitoring of ongoing OpenDXM GlobalX operation. It can be used to determine the number of stored files and their storage space requirements for a list of WebSpaces at the touch of a button. The extensions to OpenDXM GlobalX have been improved in parallel to the release of version 9.6. Version 4.5 of the Batch Processing Framework (BPF) supports Siemens NX version 2406. The PDM integrations for Windchill, Teamcenter, 3DExperience and SAP/ECTR have also been developed further. Worthy of note in this context is a new page in the wizard that makes it possible to select conversion profiles for CAD data sets. The new interface for configuring and monitoring BPF jobs, which was made available as a beta version in the previous patch versions, now covers all the functions and thus replaces the previous interface. OpenDXM GlobalX 9.6 is a major release, the security of which is checked every year by means of penetration tests. These penetration tests, which were performed by an external company, have once again confirmed that the software can be used without restriction and without security concerns.
