Improving the flow of information between ERP and PLM systems is a key prerequisite for digital transformation of the product engineering process and is a crucial component in the context of Industry 4.0. PROSTEP's OpenPDM offers a standards-based integration platform that supports a variety of migration and integration scenarios and provides connectors to common PLM and ERP systems as well as legacy systems. The aim of the agreement with ILC is to also develop a corresponding connector for 4PEP in order to automate the transfer of product structures, variant information, project information and engineering change deliverables between the two system environments. 4PEP is an add-on software package that uses established technologies such as SAP NetWeaver to simplify the management of SAP data in the product engineering process (PEP).
As ILC's managing director, Dr. Oliver Quirmbach, explains, the combination of OpenPDM and 4PEP opens up new possibilities for digital transformation of the PEP across the boundaries of PLM and ERP systems. In developing the connector, PROSTEP is responding to the wishes of many customers, who are looking for PLM/ERP integration that allows more than just the exchange of master data and BOMs. Furthermore, this integration makes it possible to launch secure data transfer via the PROSTEP platforms OpenDXM or OpenDXM GlobalX directly from 4PEP.
