Next-generation SAP/ECTR integration in OpenDXM GlobalXBy Daniel Wiegand Working together with its technology partner DSC, PROSTEP has adapted the SAP/ECTR integration in its data exchange platform OpenDXM GlobalX to the new software architecture for PLM integrations. This means that customers can continue to exchange their CAD and PLM data with clients and suppliers easily and securely directly from their ECTR environment. Exchanging CAD data together with all the relevant metadata is one of the day-to-day tasks performed when collaborating in the development process. OpenDXM GlobalX's PDM integrations provide engineers with support for these tasks by making it possible for them to compile data easily and in a traceable manner and then send it via import and export interfaces without any need for special know-how. OpenDXM GlobalX takes permissions into account and prepares the data in such a way that it can be delivered to the partners in the agreed format. Everything is logged, encrypted and can be traced via the data exchange platform. The OpenDXM GlobalX integration in the SAP/ECTR client is characterized by the fact that users can define the set of data to be sent using drag and drop. The wizard for creating jobs is easy to use and makes it possible for users to create send jobs very quickly. The export of data from SAP, its customer-specific preparation and its delivery are performed in the background, thus relieving users of the burden of having to carry out these steps themselves. The progress of the job can nevertheless be traced at any time. The next-generation integration provides companies with a completely redesigned, state-of-the-art wizard interface. It optimizes the processes with a view to communication between the systems involved. For example, approved CAD data can be made available to suppliers for the purpose of providing quotations, or for production, via the data exchange platform without having to surmount any technological hurdles. OpenDXM GlobalX can be expanded to include modules for CAD conversion, quality inspection and data preparation with the aim of automating the data exchange process to a very large extent. Customers also have the option of using the data exchange platform as a SaaS offering from the cloud while still being able to connect it to their IT infrastructure.
